A Good Time Had By All

My trip to Vegas was a blast -- and much too short! Aside from the abundance of nude dancer advertisements, I was extremely impressed. The others in my gang had fun as well. I must admit that the first 2 nights my friend and I turned in much too early to be on vacation (away from the kids). We made up for it the last night though. There was a wonderful Hawaiian band playing at the lounge in our hotel that was 'off the hook'! They sang all types of music (and sang it very well). The band is called 6-5-0 and I have contacted them in hopes to get one of their CD's when it becomes available.

I would definitely like to go back to Vegas and hopefully take a tour of the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. Didn't do much gambling (about $20 worth - honest). I probably won that much as well, so I'd say I broke even. We went to the outlet mall and walked around on the strip that Saturday & Sunday. We all took lots of photos. I don't have all of them loaded on my Yahoo Photo Album yet, but, here's a few.

Running On Empty

This past weekend was raining but nice. Friday I took the kids to the Botanical Gardens in Ft. Worth to see the Butterfly Exhibit (something different). They actually liked it! I was so glad. It would have hurt my heart if they said they were bored and wanted to leave. There were so many people there. We first toured the Japanese Water Gardens and then walked to a different area to see the Butterfly Exhibit.

Saturday morning I dropped my son off with his father (my daughter wanted to stay with her mommy) and spent time at home watching movies with my daughter. I should have been studying for an upcoming exam but, for some reason, I just can't get motivated. I would be in a state of depression if I failed this course but I can't seem to stay focused or enthused about Biology.

Sunday morning my daughter and I attended worship service and then went to a friend of a friend's for Easter dinner. The house was GORGEOUS. The couple attends the same church as me and are from the same hometown as my friend and her family. I've met the wife & kids before but this is the first time that I've met her husband. They are very nice, down to earth people. I had a wonderful time, not to mention that I ate waaaayyyyyy too much. We played Phase 10 for a while before I had to leave (just so happened that I was losing badly). I attempted to study when I made it home but as usual, I fell asleep. I woke up about 3 a.m. this morning trying to finish a Discussion that needed to be submitted by 8 a.m.! Well, I submitted it. I'm not too sure how well my grade will be. Better yet, I'm not to sure that I want to find out my grade.

I did manage to make it to work on time. This is a big accomplishment for me. However, I'm feeling very exhausted right about now and the small dark space under my desk is looking quite inviting :) .

Any Las Vegas Attraction Recommendations

O.k., I just typed a post about my upcoming vacation and blogger messed up! I don't feel like retyping it. Keeping it short, I'm leaving for my 4 day Las Vegas trip on Friday. If any of my blog buddies have any suggestions as far as night clubs or any other interesting attractions, please feel free to share. Thanks a bunch.

A Mad Society

I don't like watching the news because it's despressing, however, I do like to be informed as to what's going on in the world. The past couple of weeks has been down right mind boggling. From a judge finding her husband and mother shot to death in her home - to a judge (among others) being killed in an Atlanta courtroom.

What is happening to people? What happened to rationalized thinking? What happened to disputes or conflicts being settled in a civilized manner? Could these people have possibly developed mental problems earlier in their lives that are now starting to surface? When I sign on to my computer I'm either greeted by CNN or MSN News but will often check the local news site to see what's happening in my area. Lately, the headlines have been depressing;

Locally, a pastor was accused of sexually assaulting 3 women (and drugging 2 of them) and was also accused of drug possession after his car was searched.

Today, in the wee hours of the morning, 4 men were shot at an intersection not far from my place of employment. Three died and the fourth is in critical condition. This is not a drug infested, liquor store on every corner, neighborhood. This is a VERY prestigious neighborhood that didn't even have enough officers to handle the crime scene investigation.

A few days ago a frustrated church member suddenly opened fire during a church service and killed the pastor, the pastor's son and others, as well as himself.

We've got people complaining about the war overseas when there's war going on in most of our neighborhoods. The stories I just mentioned are but a few incidents that occur on on a daily basis, but we don't hear about most of them. When will it end?
